Danièle Stalder

Postdoctoral Fellow

Hello, I’m Danièle, a research associate in David Gershlick’s lab. Working on membrane trafficking for over 10 years, I’m travelling the world to find the best place where to study my favourite topic and I definitely think Cambridge is a great place for it!

Right now, I try to get a better understanding of Golgi to plasma membrane trafficking and I combine biochemistry and super resolution microscopy on living cells to achieve this.

Maria da Conceição Pereira

Postdoctoral Fellow

For the better part of the last 10 years, I have focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in genetically determined movement disorders. During this time, I became interested in the fundamental biology of the proteins involved in these disorders. And what better place to explore protein trafficking than CIMR. On my off times, I enjoy a good novel and do partake in baking adventures of sweets and desserts.

Jessica Eden

BBSRC DTP PhD Rotation Student

Hi my name is Jess, I am 22 years old and have recently begun the first year of my PhD. I am on the BBSRC-DTP programme and a member of Downing College at the University of Cambridge. I completed my undergraduate degree last year at the University of Bath where I studied Biochemistry and completed a year in industry at GSK in the Protein Degradation Department. As part of my PhD I am interested in studying constitutive protein trafficking and secretion in i3 cortical neurons. When I am not in the lab, I enjoy playing rugby at a local rugby club.

Bret Sanders

Postdoctoral Fellow

Hello my name is Bret and I’m excited to join the Gershlick Lab as part of the Rosetrees-Cambridge NeuralNET project. My previous research has focused on the genetic risk for neuropsychiatric disorders, particularly how schizophrenia variants may contribute to disease through the disruption of early neuronal development. Building on this interest in disease genetics I am now investigating
variants associated with a range of neurological disorders affecting children as well as the fundamental process of protein trafficking. Outside of the lab I have an eclectic mix of interests which include studying military history and collecting antique maps

Ellie Fox

DTP-MR PhD Student

After my undergraduate studies at the University of Bristol, I completed my masters degree in biochemistry at the Freie Universität Berlin. During this time, I also worked as a technical assistant and this position sparked my interest in intracellular membrane trafficking and microscopy. For my PhD, I’m working on a collaborative project using cell biology assays, high content imaging and screening technologies to investigate GLUT4 and its mislocalization in type 2 diabetes.

Adam Wolowczyk

Biochemistry MSci, University of Cambridge

Hi, I’m Adam and I’m currently taking a year out of my medical studies to undertake a master’s degree. I am interested in exploring the biophysical basis of fundamental biology and the Golgi is a great place to start! My master’s project is focussed on unpacking the role of transmembrane domains in trafficking. Outside of the lab I enjoy music, whether that is attending concerts or singing in the Homerton College Charter Choir.’
